Yoga for Beginners: Basic Yoga Poses(Asana) to Get  You Started


Being a beginner it isn't easy to stretch out the body, but regular practice was enough to fabricate my body on the Yoga mat. Into  every session of half an hour, i had fallen multiple times, felt pain, sweaty, and had almost made my mind-Not to give up. Every poses that i picked to pose has been  challenge for myself and that challenges to my Physical endurance,Flexibility and i love to enjoy that.

Gradually, I started seeing a progress, all muscles in my body were engaged, Shoulder stretched,working my limbs,able to twisting my body. 
I juggled between maintaining posture, attempting to breathe right way. Your Yoga practice is a lifelong pursuit, giving you  plenty  of time to learn numbers of Postures.

As you progress,  you will love to take on more challenging pose.But being a beginner, it's good to keep things simple when you have just started out. Sticking to the regular practice of basic poses outlined here are valuable enough to keep you occupied for a long time.


I felt light, relaxed,calm and sense of relief took over. Since you rarely move your body like this in real life,so balancing yourself might be seem little difficult for the very first time.


Here is something to tell to beginners, Some people will tell you Yoga is too slow to fit into the shape, and also too boring instead it is an intense and holistic exercise.


This ancient form of exercise with roots in India is ranking at the top focusing on strength, flexibility, balance and development of physical endurance.

Don't let anyone to misguide you as there are many consequences of Yoga.Nobody expect you to  become a master in Yoga at very first time.Yoga is all about pushing past your body's limit in time.

  • If you have a history of a chronic disease or are recovering from an injury, consult your physician before commencing. 1. Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
It is one of the most basic posture of the Yoga. Tadasana, it comes from the Sanskrit words "Tada" means "Mountain". It is a simple standing posture of Asana.The standing poses often done first in the Yoga class to "build heat" and get your body warmed up.
The pose teaches one to stand with majestic steadiness like a mountain.

Mountain pose may look very easy and simple, but is the basic building posture of the Yoga, for the beginners, every bit is important. Standing pose is not as famous as  other posture, but, starting from difficult poses might occur injury for your health,so start from the basic poses of "Standing Yoga". Starting from the basic pose will arrange your each body parts, to bend it with flexibility and balance. This involves the major group  of muscles and improves focus and concentration.

How to do it?


Stand with your heel slightly apart and your arms besides the Torso.Gently lift and spread your toes and the balls of your feet,then lay them softly down on the floor. Make a balance of your body on the foot. Lift your hand and ankles that must touch to thigh  muscles breathing long to up exhale to down while rotating them  inwards.As you inhale, pull your shoulder and elongate your torso, while you exhale release your shoulder blades away from your head. Your ear, shoulder, ankle and hips should be in one line. you can check your alignment by standing apart from the wall.You will feel light and your body start to release sweat and get warm.

2. Tree Pose (Vrksasana)

"Tree pose" Known as "Vrksasana" in Sanskrit, It is the basic Yoga pose to promote balancing,focusing and concentrating. The Sanskrit name comes from the  pose Vrksa meaning tree, and asana meaning pose. Tree pose is hip opener, balance posture, and a great way to  align the spine and central channel of the body.In order to build up Tree poses, spend time on Tadasana.

If you feel free beginning to topple, you can step out of it easily. focus your gaze on the spot of floor. Try to find the comfort position to see what works for you.

How to do it?

Keep your one leg straight and find your balance. Place your one leg up, on the thigh of the other balanced straight leg. The sole of the bend leg should be flat and placed gently. Raise your arm over head while inhaling and bring your palm together. While exhaling bring your hands down  and release your bend leg slowly on the floor,come back to Standing position. Repeat  the same with other leg.

  • Tree  poses stretches thighs,groins, torso and shoulder.                                                                      
  • It builds strength in ankles and calves.                                                                                            
  • Helps to remedy flat feet.
