How to do Ananda Balasana & it's Benefit.

Beginner's Tips

The name Ananda means "Blissful" Bala means "Baby" Asana means "Pose. So Ananda Balasana Pose is also called "Happy Baby Pose".

This is basic level of asana. This asana is very effective for baby as it has a positive impact on the body.

Before you do this asana make sure that your stomach are empty. You need to keep a gap of at least 4 to 6 hours between your meal and work-out.

Step by Step Instruction:


  • Come on the Yoga mat and lie your body flat on your back.                                                                                            
  • Now lift your both leg slowly towards up. Keep in mind as you lift your leg to upwards it should be close to each other and straight.                                                                       
  • Bring both your knees close to chest.                                        
  • Lift your both side hand to respective side and hold your toes. Make sure arms are pulled through inside of your knees a you hold your toes.                                                 
  • Now slightly open your hips  and gently widen your legs to get stretch.                                                                               
  • While doing this make sure your head should be on the floor, don't let it up lift.                                                                   
  • Press both the back of shoulder and spine should be pressed flat on the floor.                                                                          
  • Repeat it for 5 to 6 times.                                                             
  • Now release your toes by lifting your hand gently and keep your leg straight back on the floor to come back to actual position.  

Benefits:

  • It stretches the back, legs and also spine and inner part of groin.                                                                                        
  • This pose helps you in hip opening.                                                  
  • This Happy Baby Yoga pose release stress or tension trapped in the lower back.                                                                      
  • It strengthen the arms  and biceps as well.                                                                       
  • It stimulates the stomach and the organs in the digestive system.                                   
  • It reduces headache.
Caution:

If you have back issue you can try this after consulting Doctor because it gives you relief to back pain and reduce pain slowly.  This pose is for children, they can start doing it from beginning level.
